On Do On Korean Restaurant
Katsu & Noodle

After a busy hot day visiting a Korean folk village and museum we went looking to have an Italian dinner in Seoul. We did not find any Italian restaurants in the neighborhood that accommodate a table for 6 people. After walking around we came a cross a small Korean noodle restaurant. We were desperate at this point for any food and so were happy that this restaurant was still open.
We were pleasantly surprised with how wonderful the food tasted. The flavours were amazing. We ordered truffle fries and they were divine. Perfectly seasoned.
We also had pork cutlet dish and hot chicken noodle spicy soup. They were all so flavourful. Our waitress was very nice and we asked to meet the chef and found out he also the owner of the restaurant. It had only opened 2 months ago. The chef was so humble and friendly and young. We were impressed how young he was. His assistant chef was also young. We told the chef we definitely would come back again, possibly tomorrow.
The next day we made true our promise and returned to the restaurant. The waitress immediately remembered us. We ordered the same soup and truffle fries. To our surprise the chef also made us their signature dish - cold Makguksu noodles and vegetables. We had never had this type of dish before and so were a bit skeptical. To our amazement this dish was fantastic. The dressing and seasoning were perfect. We could see why this was their signature dish. Then we were given 2 complimentary fried dumplings with a dip. Again the dumplings were superb and the vinegary dip had the right amount of vinegar and sweetness and fresh chilli.
We finished everything and when we were about to leave the chef gave us dessert - 2 small glasses of frozen blueberry with milk that was consistency of ice cream. It was delicious. The blueberry with its tart and sweet flavour were complimented well with the cold milk.
The entire dining experience was amazing and such a treat. We got to know the staff more. We found out that the waitress was the chef’s wife and his brother was the assistant chef. A whole family business!
We left the restaurant with very full and more than satisfied tummies. It was a pleasure getting to know this family run restaurant and wishing them every success in the future.
This was a wonderful last dinner in Seoul which we will remember fondly before heading back home to Vancouver the next day.
